Death Toll Rises in Soma Coal Mine Disaster

As much of Turkey slept last night, sad news out of Soma has confirmed the death toll from the coal mine disaster has risen to 151. Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz, confirmed the disheartening death toll early this morning. An explosion and fire ripped through the mine yesterday and preliminary reports hint of a possible electrical spark igniting methane gas as the source of the disaster. Many miners still remain trapped in the coal mine while 76 have been injured.
