Another Mass Shooting in America - the Second in Twelve Days
It has sadly happened again: there's been another mass shooting in the United States (US), this time in the established safe community of Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, California, about 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Twelve people have been killed, including a Sheriff Sergeant, in this latest display of utter violence, the second major massacre in just 12-days.
Reports indicate that calls to police of shots fired were received about 11:20 PST last night from a college-student frequented bar and night club in Thousand Oaks, California. There was a reported country and western theme event at the nightclub that lured many students from three neighboring colleges.
The gunman, who died at the scene, was armed with a handgun and shot a security guard at the location to force himself into the bar and nightclub, where he carried out the carnage of killing 12-victims.
This California shooting is the second major massacre of innocents in America in just 12-days. On October 27, an armed man desecrated a Jewish Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and killed 11 worshippers.
Again, the prevalence of guns across America, an increasing reality of mental illness and an atmosphere of division and hate continue to fuel these tragedies of violence. These conditions must be condemned and pushed back against.
I send my deepest condolences to the loved ones of the innocents killed and I urge the new Democrat Majority House of Representatives to take the necessary steps to safeguard the people of our Republic.
