Syria, the most discussed conflict in Washington, DC, these days; got more attention yesterday during a hearing before a House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Subcommittee. Though the Committee's Republican Chair and another upstart Republican member from Illinois, who I will not name for fear of adding credence to his silly claims of questionable US leadership; tried to blame President Obama for the conflict - the learned scholar and researcher Dr. Jon B. Alterman, in his testimony reminded all that Syria was a sensitive yet strategic situation. He testified that "preserving Syria's neighbors' security is no easy undertaking, and it takes more than money".
