An EU Deal for the Ukraine?

Is it possible? Could it be true? European Union(EU) foreign chief Catherine Ashton has said that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanokovych  intends to sign a deal on closer ties with the EU. The BBC reports this morning that Ms. Ashton has been assured by the embattled president during their talks in Kiev that his aim is to sign the EU deal. No time frame has been given as to when the president would inked such a pact with the EU. But the truth is that the Ukrainian president has been holding out for a $20 billion bailout from the EU as a condition to signing the deal. Meanwhile, pro-European protesters continue their encampment at Independence Square in Kiev after failed heavy-handed attempts by government forces to remove them. The United States has also threatened action against the Ukrainian government for the rough treatment dealt to protesters.
