A Stark Warning on the Environment
Famed biology writer and science documentary filmmaker, David Attenborough, has issued a stark warning on behalf of the world's people to world leaders at the COP24 conference in Katowice, Poland: "...If we don't take action (on Climate Change) the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon."
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is underway in Poland from today until December 14. It is the 24th Conference of Parties (COP24) meeting to negotiate how to tackle Climate Change and how to implement the goal of limiting global warming to less than 2 degrees F a-year.
Addressing the conference, Attenborough, famed for his revealing and educational series on "Life", especially in the world's oceans, said: "Right now we're facing a man-made disaster on a global scale, our greatest threat in thousands of years: climate change." He informed: "The people have spoken. Leaders of the world you must lead." And he warned: " If we don't take action the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon," CNN reported earlier today.
Attenborough, climate scientists and other learned specialists have been sounding the alarm in regards to our deteriorating environment for quite some time. The Earth is warming and warming to0 quickly to sustain the continuity of the human species. While most nations have taken pledges and actions to better the environment, the pace of action is faltering in relation to the dire Climate Change condition.
Therefore, in order to weather the approaching collapse of civilizations, all governments must act decisively and immediately to combat Climate Change.
