A Ceasefire Delay in Syria Represents Prolonged Punishment of Innocents

Russia's suggestion of a March 1st ceasefire in Syria does not serve humanitarian causes. For the sake of the innocents - the children, the women, the civilians and those non-partied to the conflict, a ceasefire in the war should be immediate in order to ameliorate the rapidly deteriorating conditions under Russian bombs.

Any delay of the institution of a ceasefire in Syria represents an extended period of punishment of innocents. Similarly, any deferral of a ceasefire is an endorsement of the continued death and suffering of the Syrian people.

Therefore, western nations and international organizations must compel Russia to adopt an immediate ceasefire in Syria instead of prolonging the bombardment of civilians on the behalf of the Bashar al Assad regime.
