Towards 2014

Out of the House

Why can't the Republicans in the House of Representatives see it? Immigration Reform is good for America. Members of the House of Representatives who have allowed their narrow understanding of sociology to resist Immigration Reform must be sent packing from the Chamber. This great country must be allowed to live up to its ideals that hope lives in this the land of Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Obama. This land is the light of freedom and human determination, yes, it is the light upon the hill that shines globally as a signal of human triumphs. It is inclusive. Why won't the House Republicans accept this? Vote yes on the Immigration Reform Bill passed by the Senate.

I Fear...

...that given the conservative nature of this 112th Congress, Immigration Reform passage is in peril. My suspecting instinct tells me that friends of Immigration Reform should consider with emphasis the 2014 Congressional races. The 2014 Races appear to be the best possible vehicle to getting the President's agenda pass. Those of us who support President Obama need to take stock, and  to face up to reality - the conservative Republicans will entrenched themselves as continued barriers to any progressive agenda. The only way to defeat them is at the polls in 2014, so that we may attain a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. I believe these Republicans are adamant in their quests to minimize the legacy of our 44th President. To fellow progressives I say, let's look to 2014, let's gird and prep ourselves, let's hit the pavements of America one more time to salvage a lasting beneficial legacy of our 44th. Amen!

The 'Hiker' is back!

Elections can be strange. The 'Hiker', Rep Mark Sanford, Republican, was re-elected to the House of Representatives yesterday in South Carolina. Having said that, there's no more I wish to add. Consider amongst thyselves.

Engagement in Virginia

The Washington Post reported Sunday, May 5, 2013 that the Republican candidate for Governor has a lead over the Democratic Candidate Terry McAuliffe, according to the Post's poll. Well, this indicates to me that there needs to be some engagement on the part of concerned and progressive people in the next coming weeks. I consider Virginia a litmus test to the 2014 Congressional races. I call upon all of you who worked the pavements in 2012 to re-emerge and work on behalf of Mr. McAuliffe. I look forward to seeing you soon in Virginia.
