The 25th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States (US), along with providing a succession to the Presidency of the Republic, also provides a process to removal of the President from office.
Adopted on February 10, 1967, Section 4. of the 25th Amendment reads:
Whenever the Vice President and a Majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President...
US President Donald Trump has publicly repeated and touted an unproved drug for the treatment of COVID-19. Despite medical declaration that there is insufficient data to endorse the drug, Trump has recommended: "try it...what do you have to lose". Apparently, the drug is known to have deadly side effects and small preliminary trials have confirmed deaths from using the drug in the treatment of COVID-19.
Again, yesterday, at his daily COVID-19 Task Force briefing at the White House, the non-doctor Trump went off the cuff as he talked about ingesting disinfectant and using UV or powerful light to treat COVID-19. Learned and responsible doctors have since reached out to the American people to disclaim the propositions from Trump. Moreover, the makers of both Lysol and Dettol - two disinfectants, were compelled to issue statements earlier today to dissuade consumers from ingesting their products.
That Trump has repeatedly touted dangerous and unproved drugs and methods to treating COVID-19 to the American people stands as sufficient evidence that he is in dereliction of faithfully executing the duties of president, thus bringing into question the mental state and health of President Donald Trump.
Tendered for your full consideration toward the health of the Republic on this April day, 2020.
