The reality of future greater destruction upon global society brought to wrought by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), is stark.
Already, more than one-million people worldwide have been infected by the disease. So far, more than 56,000 people have died from COVID-19 in Asia, in Europe, in the United States (US) and elsewhere. Deaths number in the thousands in Italy, in Spain, in the US, in France, in the UK and in China.
Western economies have come to a virtual halt. Children are distance-learning at home as many school districts have shuttered in an attempt to contain COVID-19. Many parents, who have not lost jobs in recent weeks, are teleworking. Many businesses deemed non-essential have been forced closed. Restaurants and bars are also closed as pharmacy and supermarket shelves are quickly picked bare of household essentials within hours of opening. Outside, there's an eerie feel in the sunny pollen-blown air.
In the US, more than 90% of the population is under a stay-at-home order as social distancing is instituted in an effort to mitigate the spread of the highly contagious virus. Yet, in clear evidence that the Republic lost a crucial month to prepare for the arrival of the pandemic, New York State, in the past 24-hours, reported its single highest death total thus far in the pandemic - 562.
American infections with COVID-19 have risen to more than 250,000 with more than 6,500 deaths nationwide.
And if present casualties are not stark enough for the wealthiest nation in the world, then consider the dire science-based projections from health experts: "it will get worse before it gets better."
Therefore, the point here is to emphatically expect the worse, hope for the best in this battle with COVID-19.
Wherever you are in the US - New York, California, Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Washington, Louisiana, Georgia or in some other state; in France, in the UK, in Italy, in Spain or in some other country, take this pandemic threat and reality very seriously. Stay at home. Protect yourselves, others and communities. Abide by hygiene and health guidelines.
People, I urge you to opt to live. Live World, Live!
