As many people in the United States (US) and elsewhere adapt to and cope with the new norm of social distancing, it would appear that most people have come to terms with the seriousness of the dire conditions posed by the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
At the time of writing, worldwide COVID-19 infections number over 760,000 with more than 36,000 deaths. In the US, infections number 155,000 with over 2,800 deaths.
Stay at home guidelines from the US Federal government have been extended to April 30. However, 28 States, acting in the full interest of the public health, have declared mandatory stay at home orders permitting their residents to only go out for life essential reasons.
But in far too many incidents, some people continue to defy stay at home guidelines and recommendations to venture out without just cause and to socialize in public as well as to complete non-essential minuscule work, like commercial landscaping and construction.
If the pandemic modeling by disease scientists is even remotely close to accurate in forecasting that US deaths could exceed 100,000, then it is high time for all Americans to abide by the social distancing guidelines in an all out effort to push back against the pesky contagion.
Social distancing is but a small, but a crucial role all residents could perform as their duty in the war against COVID-19. Let's be responsible folks, play your part so that we all could return to some degree of normalcy soon. Thank you for your support.
