The invocation of racist and xenophobic classifications to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) that continues to spread across the United States (US), is a deliberate and flawed excuse aimed to shadow the failing and unpreparedness of the Donald Trump administration to systematically contain and mitigate the pandemic.
Too often, Trump and other conservatives have moved to shun the blame of what is unfolding in the US upon China. Epidemics and pandemics could start in any jurisdiction. However, through drastic national steps to close down and to quarantine over 150 million citizens, China was able to afford the rest of the world at least two-months time to prep for the arrival of COVID-19 in their nation states. The World Health Organization (WHO) also pleaded with nations to ready for the arrival of the pathogen.
The COVID-19 pandemic has now infested some 111-countries worldwide. Yet, the Trump administration, which turned down sound working virus kits from the WHO, has been unable to guarantee that any and all Americans who want to be tested, could be tested for the Novel Coronavirus.
Pointing fingers and blaming for COVID-19 will not defeat the pandemic. Excuses for unpreparedness must be remedy with proactive actions to test Americans and to deliver unto the States all the tools needed to fight and to defeat COVID-19.
Kudos to the National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Soccer (MLS), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Hockey League (NHL), as well as concert promoters for postponing or cancelling events in efforts to contain COVID-19. And well wishes to the people and governments of New York, Virginia, California, Washington and Maryland for taking presidential actions to defeat COVID-19.
