A Fading Faith in Justice in America - Republican Senators Vote to Acquit Donald Trump

Republican Senators, comprising a majority in the United States (US) Congress, just voted to acquit President Donald Trump of the two articles of impeachment - abuse of power and obstruction of justice.

And in so doing, the Senators who blocked the calling of witnesses and disallowed new evidence in the impeachment of the president, have underscored a fading faith in equal justice in today's America.

That given the damning evidence revealed against Trump before the House of Representatives impeachment, his admissions, Trump's blatant disregard for the process of Constitutional action, coupled with revelations by his former National Security Advisor Bolton, the president's acquittal hereby confirms varying grades of justice within the American Republic - a seemingly new norm in the erosion of the rule of law in the US.

Trump's acquittal should point the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release all prisoners in the US with the exception of those convicted of crimes against children, murder and the use of violence in the commission of a crime.

Republican Senators, with the exception of Mitt Romney, have opted to put full faith in a growing stock market over the fair and faithful execution of justice.

With a majority in the US Senate, republicans have set the agenda for America's greater obligation at the polls in this November's presidential election. They have set the decision between market prices and justice. The American people will have to decide.
