All of the indigenous peoples, who were once charged as guardians of Mother Earth, were successful in sustaining a healthy environment.
However, as native peoples have been forcefully relieved of their stewardship of the Planet, profit seeking and taking humankind has, sadly, neglected crucial secondary effects of the development of industry and the advancement of technology amid an insatiable appetite for and the depletion of Earth's fixed resources.
As a result of human denial, neglect and failure to recognize the scope of Earth's ill-environmental health, humanity on this hot July day, 2019, faces a major predicament to fixing the Planet.
Warming global temperatures and melting arctic ice caps amid recording breaking heat on the continents perilously augur humanity's continuity from inaction on Climate Change.
But there are some positive rays of home for humanity. In China, as I witnessed last Summer, new green projects abound along with new tree plantings in and around Beijing and other places along with a new tree farms. At the European Parliament, this week I heard of continental priorities to protecting environment. In upstate New York wind farms dot the countryside. And in other nations, single use plastic bags, plastic drinking straws and other items deemed detrimental to the environment are being banned.
Yet, as an even brighter sign of humanity's commitment to rationally protecting the environment, greater international cooperation to tackling Climate Change would be an added benefit. Moreover, full support and implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change by all nations would be a good start toward preserving our Planet Earth.
