The first week of 2019 has been an astounding and recording breaking time of accomplishment for humanity: China National Space Administration (CNSA), landed on the dark side of the moon and the United States (US) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), reached deep space with the New Horizons ultima thule flyby.
Two great scientific feats heralded by the entire human race in a bid and race to greater innovation and space exploration. In these two cases, the new found discoveries and scientific firsts are by the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the United States (US).
Coming at a time when US President Donald Trump has thrown the US into an international economy changing trade war with the PRC, these two scientific firsts could hold ultimate benefits for all of the human race. Yet, these discoveries and all their hopes to science could become married into naught with research to further enlightenment of humanity becoming dwarfed from inadequate economic investments due to financial losses brought to wrought by the effects of an unnecessary trade war.
On the other hand, imagine the unimaginable scientific benefits from such discoveries by both countries working together to triumph from the great knowledge held in the unending boundaries of space.
Science must always outweigh the tempers of temporary men. Here's to science and multinationalism - to the dark side of the moon and to the unknowns of the Kuiper Belt.
