Now that the smoke has lifted after fireworks celebrations to usher in 2017 from Sydney, Australia; to Hong Kong; to Dubai, United Arab Emirates; to Paris, France; to Berlin, Germany; to Sao Paulo, Brazil and beyond, and since the confetti and glitter have fallen and have been cleared from Times Square, New York City; and from glitzy Hollywood, California, the globe must now face a test of pressing policies in the New year.
From choking environmental conditions that have plagued major cities, to natural disasters in already troubled regions, elements and events of an evolving world are serving notice of the work ahead needed to sustain humanity against a climatic change. A new record in 2016 of global temperatures hint of an unprecedented time to come.
Terror threats from Germany, to France, to Turkey, to Belgium, to the United States(US), to the United Kingdom(UK) and beyond, offer a stark grim reality of the fragility of current affairs. The Syrian war, Russian meddling in Europe and in the US, along with other agitations that could lead to conflicts, remain very real in 2017. The fate of refugee, displaced and persecuted peoples remain in the balance in this New Year.
The free peoples of the World desire a continuity of freedom, peace, equality, happiness and the rule of law. Matters of rights and freedoms must be managed to give full liberty to all peoples. Therefore, the work to protect and to safeguard our homelands from terror and from tyrants must start forthwith in 2017.
