Following two more missile attacks on Wednesday on a United States(US) warship that was also targeted on the Red Sea last Sunday, the US Navy struck back against targets in Yemen earlier today, destroying three coastal radar sites.
The US had warned that it would strike back against any offenders if any of its ships were again targeted following last Sunday's missile attack, twice within an-hour, upon the USS Mason on operations in international waters, on the Red Sea.
Yesterday, two more silkworm type missiles from a Houthi-controlled region of Yemen, were fired upon the USS Mason as it carried out routine operations off Yemen in the company of the USS Ponce, an amphibious warship.
US Tomahawk missiles from the USS Nitze responded to the attacks by destroying three coastal radar sites in Yemen. The targets destroyed were in rural areas and away from civilian dense parts of the conflict-torn nation.
With its quick response, the US has demonstrated that it would no longer tolerate attacks upon its assets abroad and at home.
