Tensions and conflicts are like dreaded diseases - though treatable, if left unresolved, they often fester into a downward cycle of major death by affliction of affection. Thus, tensions and conflicts need immediate attention and action in order to avert deepening tragedies.
The persecution of Christians and ethnic minorities by the Islamic State(IS) is a conflict. The Syrian civil war is a conflict. The hindrance of Ukraine to break away from Russian influence is a conflict. The Israeli-Palestinian fight is a conflict. And China's assertions on the East and South China Seas is a tension that will become a conflict if not treated.
In respect to the present conflicts, decisive, and not haphazard, actions are needed to settle them. The prolonged drawn out episodes of these conflicts will have adverse effects of initiating and spinning off new tensions and conflicts. To this end, coordinated muti-lateral operations and responses are needed to end the Syrian civil war; bring peace to Israel-Palestine; to safeguard the sovereign integrity of Ukrainian territory; and to displace the IS.
With regards to tensions on the East and South China Seas, that attempts to dissuade China from pouncing upon its smaller neighbors have been rebuffed, an equated response to Chinese aggression is warranted. Western allies in southeast Asia must be assisted in defending any and all further attempts to breach their sovereign territories. Once each incursion upon an ally's territory is answered in kind to match the aggression, I submit that such decisive responses could deter a future full blown conflict on the East and South China Seas.
