In lieu of an all-parties accepted peace proposal to Gaza peace, fall out from the continuing conflict could be wide, varied and lengthy. The biggest fall out from the lack of peace will be the death of innocent civilians in Gaza, Israel and beyond as this Israeli-Palestinian conflict draws additional parties into the conflict. While rockets from Gaza have now claimed a first fatality in Israel, Israeli bombing of Gaza will inevitable continue to claim innocents in Palestine that will in turn stoke a billowing anti-Israel climate across the Middle East.
Thus far, secondary effects to the conflict have been remarkably minimal, but late yesterday evening in Turkey, a United States(US) Consulate sponsored Iftar (Ramadan meal) was interrupted by Turkish protesters denouncing Israel's military operations in Gaza, the AP reported. Eggs and firecrackers were thrown, furnishings destroyed and some seven people were injured as protesters battled security officials in the city of Diyarbakir as US diplomats and local Muslims prepared to partake of the fast-breaking meal.
Some measure of a cease-fire, some road map to peace and some reasoning for stability has to take shape soon in this Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A peace has to be negotiated for Gaza.
