The trumpets of warfare, crises, revenge, power, independence and terrorism blaring across the Middle East today are not the first and not the last. This region of oil-wealth, of kingdoms, of authoritarians and of varied religious sects is a complex system in Geo-political study. But once, and way too often, when the fragile peace of the region is broken, the lives of innocent children are sacrificed because men in their drunken desires for influence and dominance and their lack of the ability to siphon rational dialogue; contribute to conflicts that consume children by the thousands. Thousands of children have died in Syria. Hundreds of youth have been jailed and killed in Egypt. Hundreds adversely effected in Iraq. And in Israel and in Gaza the death toll of children is beginning to tally.
But there has to be an end to this vicious cycle of youth destruction. Evidence and actions from Israel to Gaza to the West Bank to Cairo, to Damascus to Baghdad to Mosul and elsewhere in the region, suggest that the persons in the seats of power are incapable of instituting any rational peace; thus the youth of the region must take it upon themselves to recognize that they are the vanguards of all change in their societies and they must demand a lasting peace of their leaders.
